ABOUT MIA
I’ve been an art kid for as long as I can remember, usually drawing instead of paying attention in class. Art and music were always the things I naturally gravitated towards. After school I studied graphic design, where I developed a love for composition, visual storytelling and making things feel intentional. At 20, I was lucky enough to land a tattoo apprenticeship, and it quickly became clear that tattooing was the medium I’d been looking for. I’d always loved tattoos and had a huge respect for the artists behind them, so getting to turn something I loved into a career felt pretty surreal.
My style has grown from being a bit of a sponge. I pull inspiration from tattooing, fashion, music and the graphics and aesthetics of pop punk and hardcore, constantly collecting little pieces of things I love and letting them find their way into my work. I specialise in black & grey illustrative tattooing, often with darker subject matter, and I’m particularly drawn to neo-tribal, heavier blackwork, medieval-inspired imagery, lettering and female portraits. I also love working on larger pieces where there’s room to really build an image and let the composition come alive.
For me, tattooing is just as much about the person as the artwork. I want my clients to feel comfortable being honest about what they love, what they don't, and what they actually want on their skin. The best tattoos happen when I can take an idea that exists in someone's head and turn it into something that feels completely theirs. Getting to hear “this is exactly what I imagined” is still one of my favourite parts of the job.
